THE TRUE JIHAD
Jihad is a misunderstood concept. Lets Understand it

From
time that, We ordained on (the) Children (of) Israel that he who kills a
soul other than (for) a soul or (for) spreading corruption in the earth
then (it) is as if he has killed all [the] mankind, and whoever saves
it then (it) is as if he has saved all [the] mankind. And surely came to
them Our Messengers with clear Signs yet, indeed, many of them after
that in the earth (are) surely those who commit excesses.
Surah Al-Maidah Ayah 32
My Dear
brothers and sisters Hopefully you would be fine by the grace of Allah
swt. Before few days I met A person his name was Aaron a
Christian-Maseehi man. The
Muslims pronounce this name as Haroon. The brother of Prophet Musa
As. He told me that he belongs to a Christian very religious family and
his father is a preach in a church and Bible Scholar in California and
also running some missionaries in different areas. I had two simple
and loving meetings with him and he did not ask me any question about
Islam and Muslims but in Third meeting he asked me at least 10 questions
about Islam, Muslims and Jihad. He also litigated that he has recited
and understood complete Quran. He also represented Some Ayah of Holy
Quran on Jihad and tried to misrepresented Ayah of Jihad that Islam is intrinsically non-peaceful, Nauzubillah. He represented Ayah 191 Surah Baqarah
And
kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they
have expelled you, and fitnah is worse than killing. And do not fight
them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they
fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers.
This was
not first time for me that any Non Muslim represented critically this
Ayah. Many Non Muslims have critically represented this Ayah forward
me and asked me that are ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Shabab in Kenya following
this Ayah.
Then I tried to make him understood with Hikmah and love practicing on this Ayah
Invite
to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue
with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of
who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly]
guided.
Brother
Aaron Really Most people Who fight over the Torah, Bible, Quran have
probably never read either book. How can a man justify complete Quran
and Islam by reciting only an Ayah. Can a man understand complete
Bible, Torah, Zaboor by reciting only One Verse. Only reciting is not
enough to understand any Ayah of Quran. Explanation-Tafseer, Shan e
Nuzool etc. And why Islamic critics see only an Ayah. Why They don,t
see the previous and next Ayah with this Ayah for Example next Ayah 192
after Ayah 191
Allah swt said.
And if they cease, then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful
Period of Prophet Muhammad saw and Jihad.....
Try to Understand
That
Jihad and Qital or fighting against disbelievers was prohibited prior
to the emigration to Madinah is a fact the entire Muslim community
agrees upon. All verses revealed during that time advised Muslims to be
patient against pains inflicted on them by disbelievers, even to ignore
and forgive when they can. It was after the emigration to Madinah that
the first command to fight against them came through this verse (as said
by al-Rabi' ibn Anas and others). Another narration from Sayyidna Abu
Bakr al-Siddiq Radhi-Allahu Anh: Allah be pleased with him says that the
first verse relating to this subject is: [v]"Leave is' given to those
who are fought against because they were wronged"[/v], but according to a
majority of the blessed Companions and their successors, the first
verse commanding to fight the disbelievers is this very verse from Surah
al-Baqarah while the verse which has been identified as the first verse
on this subject by Sayyidna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, that too, being among
the very initial verses revealed, could be called the first.
The command in this verse is that Muslims should fight only those disbelievers who come to fight against them. It means that there are other people too who do not take part in fighting, such as, the women, the children, the very old, the priests and monks and others devoting themselves to quiet religious pursuits, and the physically handicapped, and those casual labourers who work for disbelievers and do not go to fight along with them; it is not permissible to kill such people in a Jihad. The reason is that the command in the verse is restricted to fighting those who come to fight Muslims. The kind of people mentioned above are not all fighters. That is why Muslim Jurists rahimahumullah, have also ruled that should a woman, an old man or. religious person take part in actual fighting along with disbelievers or be helping them in any manner in their fight against the Muslims, then, killing them is permissible because they come under the purview of: 'those who fight you'. (Mazhari, Qurtubi and Jassas)
'The Holy Prophet Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam: Peace be upon him has prohibited the killing of women and children.'
The following instructions from the Holy Prophet Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam: Peace be upon him given to the Companions going on Jihad have been narrated in a hadith from Sayyidna Anas Radhi-Allahu Anh: Allah be pleased with him which appears in Abu Dawud: 'Go for Jihad in the name of Allah adhering to the community of the Messenger of Allah. Do not kill anyone old and weak, any young child or any woman.' (Mazhari)
When Sayyidna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Radhi-Allahu Anh: Allah be pleased with him sent Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan to Syria, he gave him the same instructions. Also added there is the prohibition of killing the religiously-devoted, the monks and priests, and the labourers employed by disbelievers, specially when they do not take part in fighting (Qurtubi).
The expression wa la ta'tadu (and do not transgress) towards the end of the verse, according to the majority of the commentators means - 'do not go beyond the limit in fighting as to start killing women and children'.
As already explained briefly in the opening remarks, the verse 191, that is (And kill theirs wherever you find them and drive them out from where they drove you out...), was revealed after the happening at Hudaybiyyah at a time when the Holy Prophet Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam: Peace be upon him, decided, in accordance with the condition agreed upon in the Peace Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, to embark on a journey to Makkah to perform the qada' of 'Umrah along with his Companions, something he was stopped from doing a year before by the disbelievers of Makkah. The noble Companions, on the eve of this projected journey, had started to worry about the disbelievers who could not be trusted upon in a peace treaty. If they chose to be aggressive, as they did a year before, what option are they going to take? Thereupon, the words used in the present verse gave them the permission to meet the challenge of their aggression and kill them where they find them. And if they could, it was permissible for them to drive the disbelievers out from where they had driven the believers out.
Since Muslims, during their entire Makkah period, were made to stay away from fighting against the disbelievers and were repeatedly asked to forgive and forgive, so much so, that the noble Companions were, before the revelation of this verse, under the impression that killing disbelievers was bad, and prohibited. It was to remove this misconception that it was said: "And Fitnah is more severe than to kill," that is, it is true that to kill someone is a terribly evil act, but more terrible and severe is what the disbelievers of Makkah have done by insisting on their kufr and shirk (infidelity and the associating of others with Allah) and by stopping Muslims from fulfillling their religious obligations, and from performing Hajj and 'Umrah. It is to avoid this greater evil that killing them has been permitted. The word, Fitnah in the verse (not translated for want of a perfect equivalent in English) inescapably means kufr and shirk and to prevent Muslims from fulfilling their religious obligations of ibadah. (Jassas, Qurtubi and others)
Since the generality of the words 'kill them wherever you find them' might lead to the misconception that killing the disbelievers is allowed even in the precincts of Haram, this generality has been particularized in the next sentence of the verse by saying:
"And do not fight them near Al-Masjid al-Haram unless they fight you there."
That is, 'you should not fight them close to Al-Masjid al-Haram, which includes all its environs in Makkah, unless they themselves start fighting you there.'
The command in this verse is that Muslims should fight only those disbelievers who come to fight against them. It means that there are other people too who do not take part in fighting, such as, the women, the children, the very old, the priests and monks and others devoting themselves to quiet religious pursuits, and the physically handicapped, and those casual labourers who work for disbelievers and do not go to fight along with them; it is not permissible to kill such people in a Jihad. that in the earth (are) surely those who commit excesses.
Surah Al-Maidah Ayah 32
Note:
Now
Please recite this Ayah and think that What is Allah swt saying very
clearly and giving message of Peace, Love and Human values.
The
law was that whoever kills a soul without justification i.e. an
innocent who was neither a murderer nor causing mischief on earth — will
be as if he has killed all mankind, because there is no difference
between one life and another. Mischief on earth means killing or harming
people, snatching other people’s property, hurting people when they are
traveling, sins for which there’s capital punishment [apostasy,
adultery, fornication]. This person needs to be stopped otherwise he
will encourage others to do the same. Therefore it is allowed to kill
such a person.
Whoever
kills an innocent soul it is as if he is killing the entire mankind. By
killing one person the murderer is showing that killing people is okay.
The punishment in the hereafter is going to be so serious that it’d be
as if he has killed all people. Every human life is sacred. When a
person kills one man that would not end there. This one murder will lead
to many murders. Therefore law and order must be maintained.
Al-Amash and others said that Abu Salih said that Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anhu said, “I
entered on Uthman when he was under siege in his house and said, ‘I
came to give you my support. Now, it is good to fight (defending you). O
Leader of the Faithful!’ He said, ‘O Abu Hurayrah! Does it please you
that you kill all people, including me?’ I said, ‘No.’ He said, ‘If you
kill one man, it is as if you killed all people. Therefore, go back with
my permission for you to leave. May you receive your reward and be
saved from burden.’ So I went back and did not fight.’”
And
if anyone saved a life by preventing its blood from being shed and
believing in its sanctity, then all people will have been saved from
him, so, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. This
includes both refraining one’s own hand from killing someone as well as
rescuing someone. Rescuing someone includes saving an innocent person
from a tyrant who is killing him, saving someone from fire or feeding
the people who will otherwise die out of hunger, etc.
Someone’s
life can also be saved by educating them. For example, a doctor spreads
the awareness that abortion is similar to murder then he is saving
lives. Similarly, we need to stop our children from playing such video
games where they have to kill others. Playing a video game for one or
two hours for several days makes them desensitized to killing. People
become so used to watching violence either through television or video
games that their hearts become hard. Same is the advice for those who
watch action movie. By deliberately being deliberating involved in such
activities we begin to lose respect for human lives.
Ibn Jurayj said that Al-A`raj said that Mujahid commented on the Ayah,
فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيعاً
“He
who kills a believing soul intentionally, Allah makes the Fire of Hell
his abode, He will become angry with him, and curse him, and has
prepared a tremendous punishment for him, equal to if he had killed all
people, his punishment will still be the same.”
We
should also take care of “emotionally killing” people. A person whose
emotions are hurt it is as though he is dead from inside.
Chastising
and criticizing those who commit the prohibitions, after knowing that
they are prohibited from indulging in them, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
says,
The
historical context is something that must always be considered where
developing an understanding. Without knowing the circumstances

The Real Jihad- Jihad of Prophet Muhammad Saw
Allah swt said in Holy Quran about his Prophet Muhammad saw.
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
Some
people make a connection between the fact that the Messenger (blessings
and peace of Allah be upon him) did not kill anyone except one man
during his life and the verse in which Allah says (interpretation of the
meaning): “And We have sent you (O Muhammad ) not but as a mercy for
the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)” [al-Anbiya’ 21:107].
So then Allah swt is calling his Prophet as a Mercy for all mankind then how can his Shareea be a non-peaceful.
Jihad is an Arabic word from the root Jee Ha Da. It literally means to
struggle or strive. Jihad is struggling or striving in the way or sake of
Allah. Jihad takes a very important status in the doctrine of Islam and is
one of the basic duties for every Muslim.
Though, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the term Holy War. Such
a term, or its equivalent doesn’t exist in the Islamic doctrine. The Christian
Crusaders in the mid-ages invented this ideology of Holy War.
There is nothing “Holy” about wars. Wars only involve killings and disasters!
and there is no place for killing in Islam.
Jihad has many forms,,,,,
- Jihad of the heart/soul (jihad bin nafs/qalb)
- Jihad by the tongue (jihad bil lisan)
- Jihad by the pen/knowledge (jihad bil qalam/ilm)
- Jihad by the hand (jihad bil yad)
- Jihad by the sword (jihad bis saif)
Continued Insha Allah...

Physical Jihad/ Jihad Bij Jism
1. Jihad by Heart
Jihad of the heart/soul; in Arabic: jihad bin nafs/qalb. It is referred as
“the greater Jihad” (al-jihad al-akbar).
It is one’s inner struggle of good against evil; refraining oneself from the
whispers of Shaitan (Satan).
This process involves allowing Islam to transform one’s soul to achieving
internal peace; and forgoing the hatred and anger.
“Jihad is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may
be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a
thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.”
{Quran, Surah 2: Al-Baqarah, Verse 216;
2. Jihad by Pen
Jihad by the pen/knowledge; in Arabic: jihad bil qalam/ilm.
This form of Jihad involves scholarly research of Islam in aiding the
spread and defence of Islam; and publishing written articles in clearing
misconceptions and correction lies against Islam.
Examples of such Jihad include the research and discovery of scientific
evidences, literature miracles and mathematical miracles from the Quran.
Messenger of Allah once stated that the ink of a scholar is holier than the
blood of a martyr; and one who is reading looks handsome in front of
Allah.
3. Jihad By Hand
Jihad by the hand; in Arabic: jihad bil yad.
This is a Jihad of action rather than words. At certain areas, it overlaps
with Zakart (charity) and Hajj (pilgrimage).
Some of its examples include giving charity to the poor and needy,
performing Hajj or Ummrah, helping those who need help, saving
people’s lives, etc. These are more of physical deeds instead of words.
“A person whose feet become dust ridden because of [striving] in
the way of Allah will never be touched by the flames of Hell”
{ Sahih Bukhari 2811
Law and murder civilians are fighting against Islam and everything that it stands H
4. Jihad By Tongue
Jihad by the tongue; in Arabic: jihad bil lisan.
It is defending Islam and spreading Islam by scholarly lectures, speeches
and debates. It often overlaps with Da’awah (invitation to Islam, or
spreading the message of Islam).
In The Last Sermon, Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) asked the
listeners whether he has passed on the message to them; and they
confirmed affirmatively.
Then the Messenger of Allah ordered all those present today to pass on
the same message to those who are not here today; and the last person to
hear the message should understand it better than the people here.
6.Physical Jihad
Jihad on the battlefield, in the Islamic
perspective, is the last resort, and is subject to stringent conditions.
It can be waged only to defend freedom, which
includes freedom of faith. The Glorious Qur’an says: “To those against
whom war is made, permission is given (to
fight), because they are wronged;- and verily, Allah is most powerful
for their aid;- (They are) those who have been
expelled from their homes in defiance of right,- (for no cause)
except that they say, “our Lord is Allah”. Did
not Allah check one set of people by means of another, there would
surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches,
synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is
commemorated in abundant measure…” [Al-Qur’an 22:39-40]
Moreover, the Qur’an says:
“And
why should ye not fight in the cause of God and of those who, being
weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)? – Men,
women and children, whose cry is: “Our Lord! Rescue us from this town,
whose people are oppressors; and raise for us
from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will
help!” [Al-Qur’an 4:75]
Thus the conditions of physical Jihad are clearly defined in the Qur’an.
5. Jihad By Sword- A Misunderstood concept
Jihad by the sword; in Arabic: jihad bis saif. In contrary to Jihad of the
heart/soul; this form of Jihad is referred as “the lesser jihad” (al-jihad alasghar).
Sometimes it is necessary to undertake Jihad by the sword. This would
include usage of arsenals and engaging in a combat. This could be simply
a bunch of freedom fighters or an organised campaign of army.
Jihad by the sword is use of arms to engage into a combat. It is not
misuse of arms to create violence.
There are only two situations were Jihad by the sword is allowed to be
undertaken.
1. For self-defence. When someone attacks you or when your
nation has been attacked. Engaging into combat due to self defence.
2. Fighting against evil and unjust. It is also a sin if a Muslim
sees unjust been done, capable of stopping it, yet not doing
anything about it. This can include war on drug, war on child
labour as well as war on terror!
The Muslims announced the war on terror fourteen centuries ago,
under the name of Jihad bis saif!
There are many rules and limitations when engaging in combat under the
title of Jihad. For example, civilians are not to be harmed; trees are not to
be cut down; asylum should be granted to surrendering enemy soldiers;
etc.
Allah swt said in Holy Quran. Surah Tuabah Ayah 6
“And if anyone of the Mushrikun seeks your protection then grant
him protection, so that he may hear the Word of Allah, and then
escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men
who know not.”
The above verse states that when an enemy soldier surrenders during a
battle, the Muslim soldiers must grant asylum and in addition, escort him
to safety! The treatment for prisoners of war is also clearly stated in the Quran.
Prisoners of war under Muslim prisons are to eat, drink and dress the
same Muslim soldiers eat, drink and dress.
And even under the unfortunate event of shortage of food, it is the
prisoners who are to eat first before the Muslim soldiers guarding them!
Note: Unfortunately Many of the Quranic verses are being quoted out of context to
wrongly justify terrorist actions.
Allah swt said in Holy Quran for the the people who
pursue that of which They have no Knowledge.
Islam and Peace
Islam
comes from the root word Salaam, which means peace. It also means
submitting one’s will to Allah (swt). The word Salaam is also an
attribute of God. In this context, it means ‘The Giver of Peace’.
Muslims
greet each other with Assalaamu alaikum which translates to wishing
peace for one another. Even when wronged, the Glorious Qur’an advises
Muslims to struggle against the temptation for hostility:
“And
not alike are the good and the evil. Repel (evil) with what is best,
when lo! he between whom and you was enmity would be as if he were a
warm friend…” [Al-Qur’an 41:34]
The
Qur’an refers to Paradise as the “abode of peace”. Thus peace is a goal
that Muslims are required to strive for, in their own selves, in their
families and in their communities. It is ironical therefore, that Islam
is perceived by many as being the motivation behind the wanton killing
of innocent people.
The purpose of Islam
In
order to be able portray a fair image of Islam, we have to consider its
divinely inspired purposes, which yield, as a result, a just worldly
order. By applying preventive measures to ensure security of wealth,
life, mind, religion, and reproduction, Islam aims to build a society in
peace, serenity, friendship, collaboration, altruism, justice, and
virtue.
According to the Holy Qur'an, all Muslims are brothers and sisters to each other and if a disagreement appears among them they make peace and correct it (Qur'an, 49:10). They help each other to avoid what God forbids and to observe their religious awareness at every stage in their life (Qur'an, 5:2); they carry out important tasks after shura, that is, consultation (Qur'an, 3:159; 42:38); and they always witness truthfully and are just even if it is against their close relatives (Qur'an, 4:135).

An Appeal:
The
Debates, Programs and other activities on Religious Issues are going
on since last many years for seeking the Peace but There is no peace
till now. Do You know Why? Because None is trying to edify the entire
world and his Society where they live buy every one is trying to prove
himself right and others wrong. There are many Channels, Websites and
Books which are Targeting Islam. I ask them, Brothers you Seek the
Peace. Is This the way of Peace Which you are following to Target the
any particular religion.
Allah swt said in Holy Quran,
.ظَهَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِي الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ
Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned. Surah Rum, Ayah 41
