Indian first or muslim first or Hindu First Sikh First Debate: What a Muslim Should do

Maulana Mohammed Ali's the Foremost Indian Freedom Fighter speech at the Fourth Plenary Session of the Round Table Conference in London, 19th Nov., 1930
Maulana Muhammad Ali (1878-1931) made this speech only six weeks before his death; he died in London, and was buried in Jerusalem as he had wished.
He explained there are two duties 1. One to Allah  2. Second to My Nation India

" ...............Where Allah commands I am a Muslim first, a Muslim second, and a Muslim last, and nothing but a Muslim........................But where India is concerned, where India's freedom is concerned, I am an Indian first, an Indian second, an Indian last, and nothing but an Indian."................

Following is parts of his speech
........................ One word as to the Muslim position, with which I shall deal at length on some other occasion. Many people in England ask us why this question of Hindu and Muslim comes into politics and what it has to do with these things. I reply, "It is a wrong conception of religion that you have, if you exclude politics from it. It is not dogma; it is not ritual! Religion, to my mind means the interpretation of life." I have a culture, a polity, an outlook on life--a complete synthesis which is Islam. Where God commands I am a Muslim first, a Muslim second, and a Muslim last, and nothing but a Muslim. If you ask me to enter into your Empire or into your Nation by leaving that synhesis, that polity, that culture, that ethics, I will not do it. My first duty is to my Maker, not to H. M. the King, nor to my companion, Dr. Moonje; my first duty is to my maker, and that is the case with Dr. Moonje also. He must be a Hindu first, and I must be a Muslim first, so far as that duty is concerned. But where India is concerned, where India's freedom is concerned, I am an Indian first, an Indian second, an Indian last, and nothing but an Indian.

India first war of independence 1857 Revolt and Role of Muslims

The first war of Independence in 1857 and Role of Muslims
(Clarification; The first war of independence was fought together by Hindus and Muslims. Both have an equal Role. But the Muslim Freedom fighters like Begum Hazrat Mahal, Maulvi Ahmadullah Shah,Azeemullah Khan, Bakht Khan and others is not being acknowledged in History by proportion. Our younger generation is not knowing the Muslim Freedom fighters. So it is an attempt to tell the truth and to acknowledge the heroes who sacrificed their life for our Beloved India)

After Teepu, Muslims laid down their lives in the struggle started in 1857, famous as the First War of India's Independence under the leadership of the Mughal emperor Bahadur Sha Jaffar.

In this struggle the courageous role played by Begum Hazarat Mahal of Oudh is laudable. She fought the foreign rulers, challenged them and offered stiff resistance for a period of 14 months, declaring her child as ruler of the Oudh. She inspired the native rulers and ruled her state in the time of crisis. It is remarkable to notice thast I n those days the so-called developed countries like England did not have women in military. But here in India, we find women in patriotic military force with proper training, under the leadership of Begum Azizun, a woman of just 25 years old. She fought on the side of Nana Saheb. Azizun sacrificed her life for the sake of motherland. She preferred death to surrendering to the enemy.

There were other courageous women like Habeeba Begum and a women donned in green dress, who fought violently for the motherland and courted the gallows without any fear. Begum Rahima bravely fought the enemy forces. Asgari Begum was barbarically burnt alive for not disclosing the secrets of revolutionaries.

Moulvi Ahamadulla Sha Fyzabadi marched forward victoriously and inflicted such heavy losses on the British that they announced a reward of Rs. 50,000-00 for his head. The Raja of Powain betrayed and he was shot him to death, and his head was cut off and sent to the British lords, to get the reward. Only after seeing the head of Ahamadull Sha, the British officers with a sigh of relief declared that the most formidable enemy of the British in northern India was dead.
Azimulla Khan, brain behind the revolt, who was the vakeel of Nana Saheb of Kanpur, wrote several letters to the native rulers and public infusing in them patriotic zeal.. Thus there is a long list of Muslim patriots who bravely fought the British.

The list, among the others, includes Moulana Liyakhat Ali Khan, Hikmatulla Khan, Kahn Bahddur Khan, who became a symbol of Hindu- Muslim unity. Mahammad Bhakth Khan, the military general of the first war of India's independence, Bakshi Ali, who inspired Jhansi ki Rani to revolt, Shehajada Feroz Sha several others.

Several fatwas were issued by the ulema to wage a war against the British, which stirred the whole community to fulfill the obligations enjoined on it. Moulvi Fazle Haq and Moulana Sarfrz Ali who wielded enormous influence upon the people closely aligned themselves with the revolt. Haji Imadadullah gave stiff resistance fight to the British while commanding the Mujahids in the plains of Shamili.

In UP, Moulana Qasim Nanutvi and Moulana Rasheed Ahamed Gangohi (Founders of Darul Uloom Deoband) led the rebellious forces during the uprisings. Thus Ulema, along with others, made it obligatory upon the Muslims to wage a holy war against the British. In Southern India several patriots unfurled the flag of revolt at the cost of their lives. A rebel by name cannon blew up Subedar Ahmed and several of his men were shot dead in Vishakapatnam. Pathan Turrebaz Khan, Moulvi Allauddin etc. attacked the British residency at Hyderabad. Turrebaz Khan was hanged publicly and Allauddin was sent to Andaman. The list containing the names of such legendary heroes is very long.

what is difference between shias and sunnis muslims in islam Sects

In the name of Allah the most beneficent and merciful.
One of the most undesirable and unliked act in Islam is division.
The Glorious Qur’an says:
“And hold fast, all together, by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves;”
[Al-Qur’an 3:103]
The Glorious Qur’an says:
Surely, those who have made divisions in their religion and turned into factions, you have nothing to do with them. Their case rests with Allah alone; then He will tell them what they have been doing.
[6:160]
But as in many of the other aspects Muslims are not following Islam. So they have done the same here also. May Allah guide them and pardon them.

The Differences between Shias and Sunni Muslim
For understanding difference for any two thing knowing the similarities is very important So before going to Difference
Before difference A look on similarities in views of sunnis and shias Muslims

Islamic Bilief.
1. Both Sunni and Shia Muslims share the most fundamental Islamic belief that is
Shahadah (The Testimony of Faith) Or Kalimah Tawheed (The Creed Of The Oneness Of Allah).

لآ اِلَهَ اِلّا اللّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُوُل اللّهِ
LA ILAHA IL-LAL-LAHU MUHAMMADUR-RASULUL-LAH.
(Trans: There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)

Five Pillars of Islam
Both Sunni and Shia believe in Five Pillars of Islam that is
  1.Shahadah (The Testimony of Faith)
2. Salah, The prayer, (Namaz in Urdu) is the second pillar.
3.Zakat, (Obligatory Charity), is the third pillar.
4. Sawm, fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, (Ninth month of Lunar Calendar) is the fourth pillar of Islam.
5. Hajj, the pilgrimage to Makkah, is the fifth pillar

Regarding the Prophet Family (Ahle Bait) following is common between Suunis and Shia
1. Prophet Family (called Ahle Bait) has a special status in Taqwa knowledge and Piety among Muslims.
2. Syedna Hazrat Ali Raziallahu Anhu was among the most trusted and loved person of prophet, was among those who helped Islam maximum.Who was among first few person in accepting Islam.
3. Hazrat Fatma and her son Hazrat Imam Hasan and Hazrat Hussain was among the most trusted and loved person of prophet.
4.The Status of Hazrat Ali is very special as he Ameerul Momeneen (The leader of the Faithful). He is among ten people who has been declared to be person of Paradise in this world itself. As a Khaleefah he is among Khulfa e Rashideen.
5. Hazrat Imam Hasan and Hussain Raziallahu Anhu was very special and prophet loved them most The Prophet - blessings and peace be upon him - declared: “these two sons of mine are the leaders of the youth in Paradise.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Manaqib, Manaqib Abi Muhammad al-Hasan, Hadith no. 3793, Vol. 5, Page 426].

Views on Battle of Karbala following is common of Shias and Sunnis (Regarding Imam Hussain R.A.)
1.Both suni and Shia are agreed that in the battle of Karbala Imam Hasan Raziallahu Anhu was 100% on right path. He got Martyrdom for the of Allah deen.
2. Those who killed or conspired / any contribution in killing of Imam Hasan Raziallahu Anhu and Ahle Bait were among worst kind of people and they have ruined their Akhirat by their act.

View on Yazeed (The man who was made unjust khalifa of Muslim whose commanders killed Imam Hussain R.A. in Karbala)`
1. He was not at all appropriate to be Khaleefah of Muslims. He was not even a good Muslim.Following is the sunni scholars view on Yazid personality.
Sheikh Muhammad Abduh. Tafsirul Manaar, commenting on Chapter 5: 36-37 (p.367, Volume Six),  brands Yazid as “an oppressive and tyrannical leader, who conducted the affairs of Muslims with force and deceit.”
Allaamah Shawkaani in Naylul Awtwaar (in Chapter Seven, page 362) characterizes Yazid as “pathological drunkard, and violator of the sanctified ordinances.”
Ibn Kathir On pages 235-236 of Chapter Four of his Al Bidaaya Wan Nihaaya
“Yazid was notorious for his love of music and liquors… his illicit friendship with singing boys and girls… There was not a single day that he woke up not intoxicated…”
On all these Points sunnis and Shias are agreed.

The Differences

Issue of Khilafat (Prophet Succession)
Sunni View
1. The appointment of Hazrat Abu Bakar (RA) was a legitimate as First Khalifah, and of Hazrat Umar (RA) as second and Hazrat Usman (RA) as Third and Hazrat Ali (RA) as Fourth.
They base their argument as he was appointed by prophet to lead the prayer during his last days of illness. And the sahaba agreed on his khilafat
Shia View
1. The First Khilafat was for Hazrat Ali Raziallahu Anhu and it has to be in Family of Prophet. Accordingly they dont recognise the Khilafat of Abu Bkar , Umar and Usman as legitimate.

Abu BakrR.A.and Umar R.A.
Sunni view
They were among the the best companion as
Merit of Sayyidna Abu Bakr (RA) in words of Hadrat Ali (Karam Allahu Wajahu) himself
Narrated Muhammad bin Al-Hanafiya:

I asked my father ('Ali bin Abi Talib), "Who are the best people after Allah's Apostle ?" He said, "Abu Bakr." I asked, "Who then?" He said, "Then 'Umar. " I was afraid he would say "Uthman, so I said, "Then you? He said, "I am only an ordinary person.
Reference Volume 5, Book 57, Number 20: (Sahih Bukhari)

Shia views
They dont consider Abu Bkar and Umar as Pious and dont recognise their good ness.

Cursing Yazeed for the Martyrdom of Imam Hussain Razaillahu Anhu.
Sunnis View
Sunnis are agreed that Yazeed was not good at all and
Indeed some sunni scholars did curse him (Sa’d al-Taftazani, for example, See: Sharh al-Aqa’id al-Nasafiyya, P. 2845), but the majority of the Ulama have cautioned against cursing him.
1. Firstly, because it has not been decisively established that Yazid himself killed or ordered the unfortunate killing of Sayyiduna Husain (Allah have mercy on him).
2. There are some reports that he expressed his remorse on the actions of his associates,
Shia View
1. They consider Yazeed as directly responsible for Imam Husain Raziallahu Anhu Martyrdom and thats why it is essentisal to curse him.

Summary

So it can be summarised thar the differences between these two main sub-groups of Muslims actualy stemmed from political differences. But Continued Mistrust, Communication gap and conspiracy of some Hypocrites /non muslims at the time of Martyrdom of Hazrat Usman Raziallahu Anhu and Hazrat Ali Raziallahu Anhu, Yazeed becoming the King of Muslim,  the barbaric Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain Raziallahu Anhu made it very complex, and left chance of any reconciliation . Over the centuries, however, these political differences have created a number of varying practices that is a normal thing in the race of identity crisis.
May Allah guide all mankind and taufeeq for the preparation of life after death with correct bilief and correct Action.

Minorities Right in a Democracy and the Responsibilities of Government

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GOVERNMENT

“Safeguarding country men's lives, property, respect, honour and maintaining normalcy of the environment, at every cost, and if minorities exist in the country then safeguarding and keeping secure their religions, their places of worship, their Personal Laws and if any minority loves its language which contains its cultural and religious wealth, then safeguarding the language and its script is necessary.

As far as safeguarding the life and property, respect and honour of the country's population is concerned, this is the primary duty of every government and no government or administration deserves to be called a government or administration if it cannot provide it. In a country with such a great population consisting of varied faiths and cultures, racial and familial strata, financial and social classes, the most hazardous thing is the trend of violence which extends beyond individuals and family circle and assumes the form of communal riots which the administration can always control it.

It is necessary to create an environment of unity and confidence, country wide tour are organized, public meetings are held and speeches are delivered, and help be sought from press and public media to prepare minds and such chapter are excluded from course books which generate communal hatred.

Side by side, the parties who create communal hatred should be banned and must not be allowed to agitate and play with the sentiments of their coreligionists.
At the same time I want to draw attention to the fact that the administrative disorder and mismanagement, disregard of duty, bribery and excessive love for money has reached an extreme. A massive country side struggle against it, moral movement and vigilance by the administration is necessary.
It is hoped that these points and honest suggestion will be given due consideration which mere sincerity, love of the country and the sourness of previous experiences and the feeling of future dangers have detailed".

Communal Violence in India :India at Cross Road Biggest threat to Development

(The following is a translation of writting of renowed Indian Scholar Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi Rahimullah at a time when the Hindu Muslim Riots  were engulfing large part of India. And people were becoming mad in communal Frenzy. This was a advise to indian people and relevant to whole world. It becomes still more relevant now as world is seeing different type of turmoil.)

INDIA ON A DECISIVE CROSS ROAD

In the human world there is nothing more dangerous, nothing more agonizing than that a human being losing his hopes in human beings.
And it is more regrettable that, in his madness and hatred of mankind, he would indulge in violence against helpless women and innocent children; thus crushing flower buds before they would blossom or smile.

It may be the fields of education or training, information or progress, financial prosperity or political stability but the branch on which this nest is standing and will always stand, is the environment of human peace and security. Therefore, discussing about the decoration and planning the building of the nest it is necessary to take care of the safety of the branch on which it is standing or it is going to stand.

No work can be done without running the risks and making sacrifices. To build a nation, fostering the sense of humanism, creating the sense of mutual cooperation, trust and affection, we need to make an intrepid, fearless and desperate attempt even at the risk of our lives.

India is standing at a cross road of history. One road leads to destruction, perpetual confusion, decline and downfall and another leads to permanent peace, security, unity and friendship.

At every bend some people appear who change the course of history and turn the tide of events. Their intrepidity, their courage, their frankness, their spirit of sacrifice plays as a saviour of the country and entire nation.

An old poet has said:
“When the wise and determined people get to work They reclaim the seas and take out rivers from mountains”.
